Retrograde Planets:
Part Four
Transiting Retrograde Planets Part B
In the past three articles of this series on retrograde motion of
the planets, we talked about the basic concept of retrograde motion,
the conventional interpretation of retrograde planets in a natal horoscope,
and the effects of a transiting Retrograde Mercury in our daily lives.
Two other retrograde planet transits are worthy of notice as we use
knowledge of astrology to guide ourselves and those who rely on us.
These are transiting Retrograde Mars and transiting Retrograde Saturn.
Mars is retrograde every second year. Over a one hundred year interval,
Mars is retrograde about ten percent of the time. It has already been
retrograde in 1997 and will not be retrograde again until March, 1999.
Thank Goodness. The shadow effect will begin as early as mid-January,
1999.
As I pointed out when discussing a transiting Retrograde Mercury,
all things that are associated with the planet Mars will not go as
expected while transiting Mars is retrograde. If you are guiding people
to delay an activity because of a Retrograde Mars, they will become
uncharacteristically impatient, aggressive and aggravated (all Mars
words) with tempers short and arguments plentiful. Let me assure you
that he who starts the fight when Mars is retrograde will surely lose
the fight. If it is a personal argument or a war between nations,
Mars retrograde always favors the person who was attacked. By extrapolation,
the person who starts a lawsuit when Mars is retrograde will surely
lose the case.
On the day that Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands, I announced
that the Argentinians were going to lose the war. Mars was retrograde,
so I was certain. Egypt started the Six Day War with Israel when Mars
was retrograde, and lost that war.
President McKinley was inaugurated when Mars was retrograde, and was
assassinated. President John Kennedy was inaugurated when Mars was
retrograde, and he was assassinated. Leadership and aggression are
both associated with the planet Mars.
Surgeons and surgery and incisions and scalpels and cutting all come
under the heading of Mars. Of course, emergency surgery must be done
immediately. All other surgeries should be postponed if transiting
Mars is retrograde.
A warning I give that is not always heeded is that one must not have
sexual intercourse with a person for the very first time if transiting
Mars is retrograde. If one does, then, before long, the two partners
will both learn to hate each other. It is difficult to wait when passions
are high, but, because there are people who have not waited for a
direct Mars, I have been told of this unfortunate result many times.
My final warning about Retrograde Mars is this: never, never, ever
buy a car when transiting Mars is retrograde. Mars represents metal
and motion and automobiles and accidents. Cars purchased while Mars
is retrograde tend to be accident-prone. Fortunately, now through
1998, Mars' motion will be direct.
Now let us consider the effects of a transiting Retrograde Saturn.
Saturn is retrograde every year for a little less than five months.
This amounts to about thirty-six percent of the time. It is currently
retrograde and will remain retrograde until mid-December. Saturn is
associated with business and employment. It has been my observation
for nearly thirty years that if one starts a business while Saturn
is retrograde, one will be out of business a year later. Similarly,
if one starts a job while Saturn is retrograde, the job will be either
temporary, a drudgery, or both. The temporary condition is not necessarily
negative. One can be promoted within the first year, the job might
change within the first year, or temporary employment might be all
that is desired.
