The Eight TransNeptunian “Planets” of
the Uranian System
CUPIDO (coo PEE doe)
Getting together. All groups: family, marriage, society, partnerships,
organizations, corporations, collections. Art ... Cupido is
a Super-Venus. The glyph is a combination of Venus and Jupiter,
so where Venus means beauty, Cupido means art. Where Venus means
love, Cupido means marriage. This is the planet of Togetherness.
Cupido is the fastest of the TransNeptunian 'planets' and advances
1°23' per year. Cupido's orbit around the Sun takes 262 years.
HADES (HAY deez)
All that is unpleasant, useless, antique, or deeply buried.
The occult ... Hades is misunderstood, because many think only
of the negative meanings: dirt, garbage, sewage, sickness, poverty,
mistakes, and all things ugly and sinister. There is a positive
side that deals with antiquity, depth, and past lives. Hades
advances 1°01' per year, so its orbit around the Sun takes a
little over 360 years.
ZEUS (zoos)
Controlled, directed energy. Machines; creativity; leadership.
All things military. Combustion engines. Compulsion. Drive ...
Zeus is like a loaded gun that is aimed. Even the glyph looks
like a rocket. It signifies well planned efforts. Zeus advances
0°48.2' per year. Its orbit around the Sun takes 455 years.
KRONOS (KROW nos)
Superiority: the highest quality attainable; the ultimate in
authority; standard of excellence; undisputed expert ... Zeus
and Kronos traveled in very close square from 1900 to about
1970. All natal horoscopes from 1900 to 1950 have these two
planets together on the dial. These two together speak of energetic,
creative activity of the highest quality. Unfortunately, they
also speak of warfare, armament, and military commanders. The
world experienced both sides of this combination. Kronos advances
0°48.1' per year, just six seconds less than Zeus. The square
between them is widening, with Kronos falling behind. Kronos
takes 521 years to orbit the Sun.
APOLLON (AP pull on)
The multiplier: expansion and spreading; growth and increase.
Science, commerce, trade, industry, peaceful efforts ... The
glyph is a combination of Jupiter and Gemini, and Apollon is
truly a Super-Duper-Jupiter. Apollon advances 0°37' per year,
so it takes 576 years to go around the Sun.
ADMETOS (ad MEET tos)
The brick wall: steadfast, stable, immovable. Shrinking. Narrowing
down to a sharp focus. Specialization. Endurance ... The glyph
for Admetos shows an affinity for the sign Taurus and must be
drawn with a base line to show the Admetos capacity to be steadfast,
stable, and immovable. Admetos describes inertia, slow motion,
and things that go around in a circle like phonograph records
and ceiling fans. Admetos advances 0°35' per year, and takes
617 years to go around the Sun.
VULCANUS (vul CAN is)
All that is mighty and powerful. Strength. Intensity... If a
sentence has the word mighty or powerful in it, the Planetary
signature will have Vulcanus in it. If the Sun and Vulcanus
are together, the vitality, strength, and muscular power describe
outstanding good health. Vulcanus advances 0°32' per year. The
orbit of Vulcanus around the Sun takes 663 years.
POSEIDON (po SIDE in)
Spirituality, truth, ideation, enlightenment, illumination.
Wisdom and culture ... Poseidon has an affinity for Pisces and
its glyph looks like a sideways version of Pisces. Be careful
drawing the glyph, so it is not mistaken for Neptune. Poseidon
is Super-Neptune without a negative side. Poseidon advances
only 0°29' per year and takes 720 years to circle the Sun.
The preceding discussion gives a brief description of the
basic natures of the TransNeptunian “planets.” The practical
applications and usefulness of these “planets” are found in
their combinations with Personal Points and other planets,
both traditional and TransNeptunian. A discussion of all possible
combinations would be quite extensive and beyond the scope
of this chapter. However, a few examples are provided to whet
your appetite. The examples below show how the fundamental
nature of Cupido is modified when combined with other planets
SUN + CUPIDO
Since Sun classically refers to a person, this can mean the
artist, the married man, the member of a society or family.
The Uranian astrologer also interprets the Sun as the physical
body, so this will mean a body able to express an art (pianist,
ballet dancer). Other meanings are art object, club member,
fraternity brother, corporate man.
MOON + CUPIDO
Since Moon is female, the combination of Moon and Cupido means
the wife or the bride. It can also mean Ladies’ Association,
or a social gathering. The Uranian astrologer recognizes the
Moon as also meaning the time interval HOUR, so Moon Cupido
means hours of art or sociability. The Moon also refers to the
public, so look for public manifestations of one of the attributes
of Cupido.
MERCURY + CUPIDO
Mercury is generally considered to be the planet of communication:
thought, speech, writing. It is also the planet of youth. When
combined with Cupido, the following key phrases are developed:
Thinking about marriage; talking about marriage. Thoughts or
opinions about marriage. Thoughts or opinions about art. To
think of the family. To call home. To phone some relatives.
Social conversations. Speech, music, song. Intellectual associations.
Youth groups: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts. The staff of a newspaper
or magazine. The Telephone Company; AT&T. ITT. Sprint. MCI.

VENUS + CUPIDO
Because the glyph for Cupido has Venus, and Jupiter, this combination
has Venus twice. The combination leads to the following key
phrases: Marital happiness. Love Marriage. Social pleasantries.
Pleasant company. Beautiful art creations. Group of Fashion
Designers. Group of Beauticians. Collection of objets d’art.
MARS + CUPIDO
Mars is the planet of action. Mars combined with Cupido describes
someone active in art or art activities, someone who is an active
member of a club or community. Key phrases include: Marriage.
Marriage partnership. Work partnership. Working with others.
Group activity. Stress in the family. A fight in the family.
A gun collection. Gun Club. National Rifle Association.
JUPITER + CUPIDO
Cupido has elements of Venus and Jupiter along with other characteristics,
so the combination of Jupiter with Cupido leads to the following
key phrases: Happy marriage. Successful artist, who makes money
through his art. Fortunate or successful partnerships. Family
happiness. Sociability. Money through marriage. Money through
the arts. Happy group of artists. Travel group.
SATURN + CUPIDO
Classically, Saturn represents limitations and restrictions.
The Uranian astrologer defines Saturn also as separation. The
combination of Saturn and Cupido leads to the following key
phrases: Separation from associations. Separation in the family.
Separation of marriage. Separation from partnerships. Divorce.
Losses in art. Nursing home. Attending a wake. To leave a corporation
or a company.
URANUS + CUPIDO
Uranus is the planet of the unusual, the innovative, the astrological,
and the electrifying. The combination of Uranus and Cupido leads
to the following key phrases: Sudden marriage. Sudden wedding.
Elopement. Sudden event in the family. Astrological Society.
Unusual group. Innovation in art. The Electricians’ Union. Airplane
Pilots. Computer organization. IBM.
NEPTUNE + CUPIDO
Neptune, in its negative sense, is the planet of illusion, delusion,
dissolution, deception, and fraud. In its positive sense, it
implies dreams, inspiration, the medium of film, and the theater.
The combination of Neptune and Cupido leads to the following
key phrases: Spiritual association or community. A nunnery.
A seance. Dissolving a marriage or partnership. Photography
Club. Film Company (Kodak). Actors’ Group. Swimming Team. Drinking
group. Alcoholics Anonymous. Artistic inspiration. The Gas Company.
Violin section. Dance Troupe. Anesthesiologists.
PLUTO + CUPIDO
Traditionally, Pluto is considered to be the planet of gangsters,
the underworld, the underground, street gangs, the mysterious,
the forbidden, and sex. To the Uranian astrologer, Pluto also
represents subtle change, growth, development, transformation,
and metamorphosis. The combination of Pluto and Cupido leads
to the following key phrases: Changes in the family. Changes
in a partnership. Changes in the human society. Social transformation.
Development of art. Growth of a company.
The European pioneers of Uranian astrology, fresh from their
World War I experiences and witnessing the postwar devastation,
formed negative interpretations of many of the planetary combinations.
The early publications of the Hamburg School are replete with
such interpretations. I have adjusted to a more optimistic
view of the world as seen in the presentation on Cupido combinations.
Uranian astrology is not yet in its final form. There is
a brilliant body of work that already exists, but modern technological
advances and changes in the global environment and global
concerns require added interpretations for some of the planetary
pictures. Where are the formulae for Astronauts, Magnetic
Resonance Imaging, Angioplasty, Cellular Telephones, the Internet,
Ozone Layer Depletion, and Space Stations? These can only
be developed from the experiences of today and tomorrow, and
from the talents of skilled astrologers working on astrology's
most dynamic frontier.
